To Cool, Or Not To Cool

Were On The Road Pic
When we got back yesterday, we needed to move the coach from the boondocking area back to our site. When I parked the coach, because it would not be hooked up to any electrical source, I made sure that I turned off and even unplugged every electrical device in the coach that I could think of. But I couldn't just turn off the battery disconnect like you would when the coach would be parked for a long time in storage, because I needed to keep some power to the refridgerator. We weren't going to empty it just for 5 days. So we'd leave the refridgerator running off of propane.

When I got back in the coach yesterday, I discovered that the fridge was not running. YIKES! A quick check inside showed that it was still fairly cool, but it definitely had been off for awhile. I couldn't figure this out, because I was very careful to make sure that the "gas" light was on when I locked up the coach.

This is what I found when I got back in. The "check" light means the fridge is not running.

This is what it should have looked like.

This is what it should look like when it's being run on the electrical system.

Once we got parked back on our site, I went through the process of turning the fridge on to run off of propane (gas). The gas light would illuminate, but after a short wait the check light came back on. I tried this 3 or 4 times, and the same thing happened each time. So out comes the manual, and all it tells me is that the gas burner should ignite within 45 seconds after turning it on. The manual went on to say if the check light comes on after 45 seconds, the there's a problem with the igniter or the burner. That's definitely beyond my capabilities. I want a certified repair person working on something like that.

Fortunately, the fridge is working just fine off of electricity. So at least it will keep all of the replacement food cold while we wait to get the fridge looked at.

Oh well.
