I worked today, so the first thing I needed to do was make a tour of the park to see how much damage was done to the park from those high winds we had yesterday, and to pick up any debris that had been blown around. I was VERY surprised to find very little debris. It all probably got blown into the next county....but I'm not complaining!
While I was making the tour, I suddenly got buzzed by a low flying airplane!
Holy Prop Wash Batman!! What the heck was that?
I went and found Fred, the park manager, and asked him what the heck was going on. He explained that it was only Kamakaze Joe, the local crop duster. They don't know his real name, so they just call him Kamakaze Joe. This is because he loves to set up his pass over the crop fields, which are on the opposite side of the Colorado River from the park, right over the park to see all the people standing and pointing at him.
After watching him for a few minutes, I realized that he wasn't really flying over the park. He just made wide turns that made it look like he was going to fly over the park, although he did get over the river, which is close enough for me. He did this for about 2 hours, but after about 15 minutes, everybody got bored and just went on about their business. Then I noticed he wasn't turning quite as close to the park as he had been at the beginning. A real ham. My kind of guy!!
